Default trouble with installing front wheel

I'm having trouble putting the front wheel back on my '93 fxdwg after I changed the tire. When I tighten the axle nut it locks up the wheel tight.I think I put every thing back correctly. If your looking at it from the front of the bike left to right I have the big spacer/oil seal /bearing and race /spacer tube/bearing and race/oil seal/speedo drive and some shims that I forgot where they went so I put them after the speedo drive on the right.I tighten the nut to spec of 50 ft. lbs. and the wheel locks tight. I don't know what to do? I have a manual but it isn't very helpful.

I don't know what order your shims/spacers are supposed to be in, but it sounds like your putting too much pressure on the bearing so something is in the wrong order, try pulling back apart and making sure bearings spin smoothly as well as the speedo drive

I agree with this. Might just be a shim out of place or speedo gear not lining up correctly?

If your hardware isnt in the right order, you will push your rotor into a caliper. Or you push on the bearing! Do a google search for "exploded view, front axle" and add your bikes year.
Hatch.

The little shims go inside the wheel with the spacer. They fine tune the bearing preload/clearance. One side of the spacer has a place to put them on. By putting them inside you will increase the clearance and the wheel will spin once again. When taking things apart always lay them out in the order they came out, that way you can reverse the order when you reassemble it. Taking pictures can help too. Hope this helps.

I got it figured out.The shims do go inside the hub with the spacer tube.one of the shims have a step on it the same diameter as the spacer tube that goes up against the bearing.I assembled it all together and tourqed the axle nut down and the wheel spun freely.I just need to get new oil seals now cause I boogered one pulling it back out to put the shims inside the hub with the spacer tube.

Thanks for the help guys.
