I just did something interesting. I was on eBay, looking for some slip ons. Found a pair of
OEM stock pipes off a 97 glide.....the previous owner took the stock pipes and professionally cut out on a press and lathe the center core stop. Leaving just the resonator tube. It was completely de-burred so no shrill whistle. The result on my 97 electra was awesome. Nice rumble out the back end at low rpm, a deep growling barking rumble on throttle up, and no need to rejet . In fact I have greater take off, more top end, easier starts and perfect sound that allows me to drive down the center of town at 1am without getting a ticket unless I bark one off intentionally. There are usually more of these on eBay.....give them a try and you will get the sound that you like without sacrificing power, in fact you may actually gain power....I did!
I've got straight pipes and had bad reversion,i tried the torque cones and they did FA.
I've since put 13/4 baffles inside the stock baffle and it's picked up everywhere, didn't think the top end would be better but it is.

Hey badcooky, so it sounds like you are running both cones and baffles. Is that correct?
I have noticed with the cones that I do have more top end but my low is horrible and mid is ok. I was wondering if it would even out. By the way it sounds, it worked for you.

No I put the cones in and it was a wee bit better.
I took them out and put those little 4 inch mechanical baffles and it's better everywhere.
I haven't tried both together,I am going to wrap the header for a little more exhaust velocity to combat reversion.
I still get a little reversion but i'll jet/wrap that out.
A bigger air bleed should do it as well.

back when my 93 was new I bought a set of Kerker exhausts which were popular at the time. I thought they were a little to quiet so I took the baffles out, (lots of people at the time were removing the baffles and then cutting the cylinder part or most of it out and then just replacing the ends) I removed the steel wool packing and put the whole baffle back in. Its nice, not to loud and still has backpressure and the bike runs great.
