Default Leaking Pet ****

95 Ultra Classic. My pet **** (vacuum operated fuel valve) has started leaking from the bottom, at that small port on the bottom. I'm guessing one of the diaphrams inside is worn out. Bike has over 100,000 miles. What are my options for repairing this? Does the dealer sell a diaphram repair kit or do you have to buy the complete fuel valve. Also, I looked up fuel valves at J&P cycles and a basic one is only around 15 dollars. However, the vacuum operated ones are a lot more expensive. Can I replace the vacuum fuel valve with just a regular fuel valve and plug the vacuum hose, or would that effect my timing, as it's tied into the V.O.E.S??? I'm thinking the only reason for this vacuum operated pet **** is to shut off the gas if the bike falls over. Is that it???

Here's a picture with the fuel valve listed ... it's about $80.00 .... you get the part number when you finalize the purchase ... It should be Part Number 61338-94A
Hope this helps.

You can get a regular valve and plug the voes. I did that 2 years ago and have had no problems.

Put a new Pingle in the '94 in '95. Plugged the hole, never looked back.

The purpose of the vacuum valve is simply to turn off the fuel supply when the engine is not running. I suspect it is probably tied in with emissions regulations, or perhaps 'elf 'n safety. Pingel valves are things of great beauty, but may cost as much or more than a replacement vacuum tap. It also needs an adapter to install, which adds to the cost.

Not sure which Pingle you are refering to, I know some do. Mine on the 94 FLHTC didn't require an adaptor. Verified that this winter when I had it apart from tank to repaint.

You could be right! I bought one to adapt an EFI tank. I forgot that.....

No adapter needed for a carbed bike.

Pingle is pretty expensive (around $80 for the cheap ones) but it is a lot easier to locate and operate than the stock one.

It is way better than the stock version.

+1 on the Pingel. The stock petcock on mine was ugly and hard to operate. The Pingel is an improvement in every way.
