There is 2 mounting pins that go thru the speedo mounting lugs, thru a rubber grommet, then thru the dash base holes and a cir-clip gets attached to the end of each one. Or you could do that in reverse so it's easier to install the cir-clip. There is also an rubber vibration isolator that should be installed between the speedo and dash base. It helps but is a pain.
Hope this helps,
jim

It's been a few years so I'm not 100% sure but I think there are clips on both sides. Mine seemed loose and bounced around when hitting bumps so i took the clips off and added a thin washer between the pin and the base to tighten things up. That didn't work but I remember struggling to get the clips back on so that's why I think there are two.

What did tighten things up was a large "O" ring from my house water filter, fit it over the speed-o after the dash is put on and it eliminated the movement. Mcgyver has nothing on me...LOL

The whole idea with it being rubber mounted and somewhat loose is so vibration doesn't destroy the speedo. And it will sooner or later. The rubber vibration isolator I talked about fits against the bottom of the speedo face and is contoured to fit snugly on the dash base. It greatly reduces the amount of movement in the speedo housing but still allows it compensate for the vibes.
Your should have 2 pins, one on each side of the speedo. There is a clip on each one to secure it. You can use a small bolt and nut but make sure it isn't tightened to where there is no movement in the speedo. The mounts will eventually crack and break. If your pin doesn't have a groove in it for the clip, I would go pick up a couple new ones along with new rubber grommets. I think you can get a kit with everything in it fairly cheap.
Do it the right way!
My .02 cents..

Ebay has them for only a few bucks. I've lost the right one twice. Finally installed the rubber ring around the speedo and haven't lost another one since.

thanks to all for the info, mine either has fallen off somewhere along the line or never had 1 at all....either way...out in the shop today took a better look and yes, there on the pin, is a groove for a clip, the pin had rode up into the speedo makin it look short but once pushed down it will clip to the bracket, great advice about the big O....thanks for all the help.....peace
