Spanners39 suggested the jumper wire, and this is how I determined it was the switch.
"Listen for clicking contact breakers.....jiggle the switch or unplug it and hot wire the bike across the loom connectors for the switch and see if the lights etc remain stable."
only named her for reference on the forum she has been unnamed! will goto the dealer and grab a handful of breakers and a ignition switch and try to dig in this weekend. Was gonna ride her to florida this weekend from ct but that is now gonna be a truck trip at least it will be a quicker trip? Ill report back what i find when i dig in. Sucks its intermittent and may not do it again till its 4 hrs away from home again with my luck
If you take the headlight out and look to the left side of the radio you will see two small circuit breakers in there. Depending on your luck you may be able to get out without removing the fairing. It's about a 50-50 chance.

ok ill take a look but kinda planned on taking it off anyway to clean and grease all the electric connections prob a good idea?
