I had a set of leaky rocker boxes. I got the cometic gasket set, tore the boxes off the heads, installed the new gaskets, torqued everything down, and now I have a problem.
The rear cylinder seems to be missing. The exhaust pipe coming from that cylinder has a lot of pressure on the exhaust stroke. A lot more than the front cylinder. If that makes sense. I took the top rocker box cover off to insure I put the pushrods back in the correct position and everything checks out fine. The pushrods turn freely so I don't think they are bound up any way. I changed the spark plug just to be sure it wasn't that.
I am now at a loss...any ideas would be appreciated.
Just took the back one off again just to check everything. Didn't really see anything. One of the small oil passages in the exhaust rocker could have been clogged. It was hard to tell with the compressed air but it seemed like it might have been clogged. Not sure that would have caused the problem though.
I will check the coil wires and harness closer. It is close to that back jug.
Thats what I was thinking. And yes watch the alignment of the oil passages. Might have knocked a piece of foreign material in there too. Keep us posted.
Thanks for helping out. I found the problem and you were right it was the coil. The harness for the coil must have gotten pulled when I was trying to wedge the rear rocker box cover in under the frame. All good now. Runs good and no oil leaks on my right leg.
