I guess if you raise the vent outlet high inough, the oil will not be able to escape the pull of gravity, and just flow back down the vent line.
When those pistons come down, they displace 80 cubic inches of area, that air has to go somewhere. If you have oil in the hose, it is going to blow out that hose.

the oil is kept a bit short of full cause i keep a close eye on it and am always adding. the top had been done by the last owner and i don't know what the mileage was when done. got it last sept with 25k on it and has 31k on it now and it leaks the same as it always did.
I suggest that you stop adding oil and keep a close eye on the level in the tank. It may drop a bit and then stabilize at a level where the oil no longer blows out the breather hose. That would be your actual full level for the tank.

I bought it with 25k, I dont know when the work was done. it will continue to blow out to the point of oil levels being to low. I read on one sight that the owner ran the breather line to a T and had one line to a filter and one back to the oil tank and just let it drip back in the tank. Has anyone seen this or heard of it? opinions?
You need to find the reason the oil is blowing out the breather.
My suggestions:
Make sure all the oil lines are unobstructed, and that there are no kinks in the hoses.
Make sure all hoses are connected properly.
Make sure you are using the correct oil filter.
If the oil level keeps going down, and the breather continues to blow out oil, then you should check the mechanical condition of the engine by doing a leak down test or a compression test.
If everything (the easy stuff above) checks out good, you will need to remove the cam cover and have a look at the breather to check that it is timed correctly and in good condition.
I'm pretty sure that a 90 is a bottom breather like my 89, they, by design, like to dribble oil out of the breather when left to vent into the air. That is why I went with a longer hose and filter/breather under my seat, mounted just above the trans.
I pulled the spring and all on mine to check the screen and sure enough it leaves a drop now when I stop and shut down , it was worse when I first pulled the ball. You can try checking the ball, spring and screen and if screen is clean give the spring just a small pull to make it a tad longer and that may help and if it doesn't do the trick ball seat may need to be seated in but the preivious posts gave some good direction as well
