Hehe, I came to the exact same point with my bike.
So if you're bike isn't loaded with electric junk...do you get any benefits with replacing with a "high output" stator?...they usually are 'high priced" too...
And again...how do you know if you need spacers?
If you use Moco parts, is there any chance it's a plug and play situation?
Guess I'm in the same situation as Bully...
Evo's an older excepting the mini cooper sized baggers with all the bullshit on them a 32 amp charging system is plenty. The trend to stacking on more power hungry gadgets the demand on the system goes up. With the can bus and all the computer stuff, the 3 phase systems are a necessity.
With the aftermarket parts they come with spacer washers and when stock there should have been one in there already. When in doubt, space it out, long as the chain lines up it's good.

Thank you all for the assistance and advice. Order a full kit last night from J&P Cycles (V-Factor). Looked at Ultima but only saw via Amazon / EBay. some $15-ish difference in price.

I think it was the fuel infection system that needs so much amps and idle voltage that required the monster 3 phase. Think about it, the old V-8s had only a 30 amp alternator to run all the lights, heater and all.
