are the shocks on my 96 super glide adjustable? i didnt see any adjustments on them. also what are the stock length? when i get new ones i would like to get shorter ones to drop the back end some
Depends which Super Glide you have, as I believe the Sport versions had taller suspension than the others. I would guess the tall ones were 13" and others 12". If you jack your bike up so the rear wheel just clears the ground you can measure yours, from eye to eye.
Be aware that using shorter shocks usually reduces available shock travel and is also likely to reduce ride quality.
The stock one on the Low Rider and the ones on the Dyna Convertible were all adjustable. They make a small spanner wrench for adjustments.
I would think very hard about lowering the bike as well. The stock shocks are soft enough and will bottom out from time to time. In my opinion, these bikes are low enough. Hit the right bump and you'll be wishing you had the taller shocks back.
On my '98 Low Rider, you adjust the rear shocks at the bottom of the shock. There are small holes through the chrome, the end points of the spanner wrench goes through and then you simply turn. Mine are still stock...I assume the '96 year model would be the same. Wonder if you have aftermarket?
