Along with the Wood 6 cam, I had my heads shaved and ported; stock pistons. Works great for me, although I must admit I don't spend much time in the 4500 rpm range.

EV13 is a bagger cam and had stacks of low-down grunt, check out the Rimblesticks cams too, a mate has an Electra Glide with a huge sidecar on, he put a Rumblesticks in and it pulls like a Steam Train!

Contact John Sach in Fla. Tell him what you are looking for, then take his advice!!!
On the gasoline issue. Another thing to look at is you should be fueling up at stations that have three hoses. One hose for each grade, because depending on the brand of pump you may be getting up to 1.5 gallons of what was pumped last, which is usually regular. This can lower the octane rating of the fuel once it is mixed in the tank. Hope this helps.

Some good builders around, John Sachs no BS approch and real world recommendations has my vote also.

Later intake closing and longer duration cams can get some bottom end but takes an experianced builder to get the compression right, too less and needs a pusher vehicle, too much and a rattle monster. I run a Woods W6H which is a W6 on steroids and uses the bigger valves with the 590 lift but has the W6 specs to pull down low, my engine is equiped with a S&S stroker which helps with torque numbers but still carries into high rpm's with the W6H.

I've been around engines daily but trusting John Sachs to do my heads and set my compression for the real world conditions is the best mod I have ever made next to going to a carb, cruize the White Bike distance 2 up fully loaded and ride like my hair is on fire with the boys, I have actually convinced my Twinkee buddies that bouncing a rev limiter is a good thing and forget about the payment books. Heads, cams, compression, good exhaust and proper air fuel ratios put together is a wonderful thing, pulling away from a emmisioned removed TC 103" SG is priceless but it still comes down to what is in your blood or wallet size

well i swung by the bike shop today, and actually ran into a local HDforum member (hi Tom). They made me a *very* nice offer on a package deal, so I came home with an EV27, Primo pushrods, new covers (mine are rusted through the chrome)

the head work is still gonna happen, but probably not til winter officially starts (IE snow on the ground). I'll give John Sachs a call for sure...its not the first time i've heard that name bounced around. I appreciate the input guys. I'll let ya know what shes puttin down once I get everything installed and take a ride over to the local dyno.

well went to start tackling all this work, and found out this afternoon that the bike already had an SEH-3 cam in it....go figure. They did the install with the stock pushrods (no adjustables). thought something seemed funny when there was already an updated torrington bearing in there.

now here's the question: I have a brand new EV27, that i'm hoping my indy will let me return (im pretty sure they will, they sell a bunch of them)

I always thought the bike felt kinda sluggish with the SEH3...now I'm having the heads done hopefully this week (ended up going with bean @ BBC in maine....only guy who returned my phone calls, and spent over an hour on the phone with me making sure we went over exactly what I want)

I have the option to bump the compression as high as I want (although if I hit 10:1 I might as well do pistons)....but want it to be streetable on pump gas (i have no problem running 93octane, i always do anyways)

what else do I have for choices for a cam? I keep hearing about this Woods W6 and W6H, and the #'s the make look fantastic...but will it work for me? (i want gobs and gobs of torque through 6k rpm, i hate downshifting to pass someone)....theres (seemingly) 500 different cams for evos, and Ive never been terribly good at figuring out the overlap numbers, and durations, etc etc. i usually leave that to the guys doing my head work
