Default Best Brake Pads?

I need new rear pads for Ruby, and rather than just follow routine and pick up the stock pads from the dealer, I figured I would ask on here what is the best brake pads out there? Which ones stop better, last longer, have less dust, etc.

So tell me, what are your favorite brake pads?

EBC, they have different compounds for different disks. Google them and then contact them, they can help you figure out which ones you need.

Ferodo. They give the best grip, but more importantly, the give the best "feel" feedback.

wow... 4 replies and 4 different answers. Must be like tire brands or oil selection. As far as I know I'm running the stock rear rotor and I need new rear pads. I am familiar with the OEM pads performance and I am looking to improve upon that by either stopping power, longevity or both.

So which brand/type do think stops the best, lasts the longest and why?

I use Ferodo because they do the job and don't cost heaps.....I avoid sintered pads because I find they tend to squeal.

I've not had any issues with the OEM pads, some dust, no noise, good longevity, I got to test their stopping power and feedback this year - no issues there either.

My fault, following a truck too closely @50mph+ and not paying attention, looked up and I was about to eat his ICC bumper as he was practically stopped. I had no trouble locking up the back and then skiding the front a little so the grip was there. They provided enough feel so that when the back came around I managed to moderate the rear skid to keep it from getting too dangerous and it was easy to keep the front tire just turning, kind of a semi skid. I got it stopped quick, it was my first panic stop in a number of years and I was happy with the brakes performance and mine -(except the not paying attention part).

I have 73000 miles on my 07 and the first switch i made was pads...i went with EBC HH doudle sintered pads... big improvement over stock...they eat rotors... i got about 55000 miles out of my rotors before i swaped them... the braking power is WAYYY better... i have never tried Lyndalls Gold Plus but i hear a lot of good from them also....EBC's a re reasonably priced..
