The valve looks like the motor was using a little oil..but not a lot...can't tell much about valves with out complete dis-assembly to view the seat...or a compression and or leak down test.
As far as "reading" the plugs...with this unleaded, alcohol diluted crap they sell us as gas...if you are running enough fuel for the thing to run right, the plugs will be somewhat black when you pull them from a running motor. If it is running good and you are seeing no black smoke...you are probably OK...if you want it jetted perfectly...go stick it on a dyno.
