The oil pump, umbrella valve and breather gear were changed out trying to correct the problem. Breather gear was changed to a S&S steel gear and it is timed correctly.
Ok re-read the post. If the parts were replaced correctly and all the oil lines and passages were checked to ensure that they were all clear then it should work fine. However it isn't, so I would re-check everything to ensure the above facts are correct. Then I wold probably replace at least the return line to ensure there isn't a piece of rubber acting as a flap valve (I've deen this twice in the last 50 years) that is closing off the line. Additionally I woul also replace the filter and check the oil tank. Hope this helps.

And as was perviously mentioned....when the oil tank is empty you need to do some checks to see where the oil has gone.....if its in the primary the seal is gone, if its in the sump then you may have a pick up issue....is the gear key in the gear that takes oil pump drive from the crankshaft intact....is the key in the crank gear OK.....you MUST check these!!
Spanner, were are these umbrella valves that are mentioned for an EVO in this thread? I understand the are under the valve covers in a small chamber with baffles and a mesh web to help catch liquid oil and are one way out for venting crank case gasses that get by the pistons rings and of course when the piston come down the air displaced in the crank case on my TCb but I did not think EVOs had them in the heads..

Yep, EVO'S have them. I replaced mine last time I had the covers off.
Only when all the oil is out of the tank and he has to add extra.
Are you using a T/C filter or Evo? I've heard of T/C filters not letting oil pass on Evo low pressure.
Evo Filter

He has done all of this.
He said this problem started happening when the stator burnt up and he replaced it.
OK, it seems to me that the crankcase won't hold 3+ qts of oil that's pumped in but not out. It would have to be being dumped out of the engine somewhere, but it's supposedly back in the tank when he starts it cold.
If he keeps filling the tank up and then it's empty after 100 miles, where's all that oil going?
Also, he said the oil pump was replaced, but did the tech inspect both the pressure AND scavenger pumps to make sure they were assembled correctly with no broken/sheared keys etc? That's the only thing that makes sense. I can't see how replacing a fried stator could be related to this problem.
