I would start by figuring why my compression is so low,

75-80 psi seems way low to me. Also, 1 1/2 turns doesn't sound right either. Most adjustable pushrods are either 2.5 or 3.2 turns. Also, if you have adjustable push rods, I wouldn't think there is a longest push rod, they're all the same. I just think you have something out of adjustment that is causing the low compression, it's in the pushrods.

The front exhaust will be longer than the others. The original pushrods are all different lengths. I would count the threads in an inch, and adjust accordingly. 25 tpi = 2 1/2 turns, 40 tpi = 4 turns, 30 tpi = 3 turns, etc. I don't think your valves are opening.

I would start by pulling the plugs and doing a wet compression test, if that yields the correct readings than you probably just washed out the rings and can move forward. if not back off on the push rods and try testing compression again, My guess by the sound of things is that your valve adjustment is to tight.

I have about the same compression. I had 90 psi, then I had the cylinders honed and put in new rings, now I get about 80. She's a dog, but she goes. BTW Traildog, you had the cylinders honed I think, right? Did you install new rings to go along with the larger bore?

Those pushrods are 1.5 turns or nine flats when you are using VT lifters along with them because the lifters do not compress the same as others.

If you are using some other lifter like a B, the pushrod adjustment is diffferent.

compression should be about 160+. Hope the lifters were bleeded down when installing pushrods.

There is 1 long pushrod and the rest are the same length.
