Good chance he might come up with some money if he knows you're going through the dmv to straighten everything out. He might not want to be asked questions.
You need to call the local DMV Inspector and ask them this question as laws will be different from state to state. He or she will know the answer. My guess is that they will want to come look at it and since it's a total custom build it will probably get a VIN assigned and a totally new title. They may have a problem with the current title depending on how it came to exist. I suppose it's possible that a custom build could end up with the same VIN as an MG just by dumb luck but, the DMV Inspector will know what you need to do to fix this in your state. There are regulations for custom built vehicles and you have to get a VIN stamped onto the frame it's self.
I feel like they will want to know how the heck it came with a title that calls it a Harley Davidson when it wasn't manufactured by HD. They will also want to confirm that it's not a relabeled stolen bike. I'm sure with an aftermarket frame and engine you'll be fine on that. It's the title that says HD that they will question. The guy that sold it to you will probably be answering some questions.
Thank you falconbrother! All I really want is to get this problem straightened out, the right way. I'm gonna start on this problem 1st thing Monday morning. I guess I'm too trusting. I hope everything goes ok with the DMV & I don't end up with no bike & taking the guy who sold me the bike to court. Thanks agin........

That's what I'm hoping for. He has know me for a long long time,& he knows that I'm a good person. But he also knows that if he backs me in the corner on this I'll wreck his world. I'm just too old school, when a man's word was his bond. If nothing else this has taught me a lesson, well learned, & expensive
