If you can't locate a harness, you will need some Deutsch pins and sockets, a few ring terminals, a Deutsch 2 position shell, a black and a grey 8 position shell, wire and some tubing to put it in. You can then make a harness per the drawings in the manual. Easy, peasy.

The timer doesn't need to be changed. The rotor does. The cruise arm on later carbs will not work on earlier bikes but is an easy swap. When you remove the ECU and bracket, the mounts for the ign module are there. When you do the job with a tank swap also, it is an easy half day job. Pinwells is a good source of the wiring harness. Any flh same year carb harness will work.

Here is a link to a post where i photographed all the oarts for an hsr42 swap. You can see the wire harness very well to use as a patern to homebrew yours.

Default Harness

I just missed a harness tonight. I'm going to look for one for a little while longer.

Stripped everything off of the bike today, won't start putting it back together until this week sometime. First question, do I need the VOES? I guess that is what one of the connectors is for, but my manifold doesn't take one. More later probably.

Voes goes to a nipple on the carb, not the manifold (although one on the manifold would be a lot easier in my opinion). It is recommended, doesn't rob power and adds a margin of safety against detonation/pinging.

Just did this conversion over the winter. Went with the Mikuni though. You will not be disappointed. Try calling Chicago HD and see if they can find your carb harness, It seems as if the dealers are working off different computer systems, Called my local HD dealer and got "that part is discontinued". Called Chicago HD, tip from a forum member, and got "that part is discontinued but let me check the locator". There were 4 of them at dealers in the US and they even gave me the phone number. Called the dealer in Maryland and they had it and shipped it out that day, $69 for the carb wire harness for my bike plus shipping. Made it simple plug and play. You will want to find a VOES. Been told that your bike will not idle well without it. I had installed one from the get go so I can't say if that is true or not but it does idle well. Good luck.
