So I got this electra glide. The owner before me slapped on a Super E and didn't do any adjusting. S&S puts a .0295 intermediate jet, a .072 main jet and a .040 main jet air bleed. I changed the jets to a .028 intermediate jet and a .066 main jet. The bike gets way better gas mileage and the exhaust sounds way healthier and louder. But, when I am cruising through the gears, at about 2500rpms the bike starts to lose a little bit of power until I crack the throttle and force the main jet to kick in. Ive read on here that it usually means its too rich at that point and needs a larger main jet air bleed to delay when the main jet starts. But to me it almost feels like the bike isnt getting enough gas in those rpms and forcing the main jet to kick in gives it the gas it needed and everything is fine from then on.
Any advice on what I should try?
I already ordered a .046 main jet air bleed so we'll see how that works out.
Is your enrichener open or closed? I have to run with mine open of the bike dies but it runs just fine otherwise. I would find the happy spot then adjust from there minus the a/c cover. It is simple to adjust with a Philips head.

I have spoken to S&S about this and they don't recommend the 28 intermediate jet but they do recommend a 50 air bleed jet.
I currently have a 46 air bleed and plan on changing it for a 52 soon.
I didn't notice much difference with the 46.
Remember the intermediate jet works for the 1st 3/4 of throttle after that it is the main.
I would put the 295 back in and put in a bigger air bleed.
If that 46 doesn't work for you then you can drill it out to what you need.
My S & S jetting guide says an 80" motor with a Super E should have an intermediate jet .028 - .033 and a main between .068 - .078 ...I would say you are a tad lean
When I have the .0295 jet in, the bike gets horrible gas mileage. My ride to work is 30 miles round trip and I end up filling up again by Wednesday or Thursday. With the .028 jet I will still have a quarter tank by Saturday. So I was hoping I could get away with keeping that in.
IMO the S & S is the wrong carb to have if you are tuning for gas mileage...you would do much better with a CV...but you could still play with the .0295 and bigger air bleed to find a happy medium between running right and gas mileage...if you are cruzin around 3000 rpm, you may have the carb in the transition phase where it is running off both jets...killing your MPG
Ill put in the bigger air bleed and mess with the intermediate and give an update on how it's doing. I ride freeway 90% of the time so that's where I would like it to run the best.
I am running a 265 intermediate and a 64 main. The carb came with a 295 and a 72, and it was so pig rich, I had to run hotter plugs to keep from fouling out. Took quite a bit of experimenting to get to the 265/64, but it runs great there. Gas mileage is fair. Mid 30's.

Tom's comment is spot on. I had an S&S on my old EVO chop and would get crappy mileage. I would fill up at the same time a buddy would and he ran a 100 Revtec with a Mikuni. I also ran a .0295 and she ran perfect but mileage sucked!!!!! My current CV gets about 47mpg and I even have a cam in this bike. The other was bone stock.
