93 heritage, it had the big bore kit.. The right side case is cracked.. So I'm up in the air on what to do to get back to riding.. I did get a stock motor from a friend but its not enough for me.. I found another 80evo and its 20 over for 2300.if the crank wasn't touched what will the cubic inches be?? I was also thinking of using the stock bottom end and have it machined to fit the big bore jugs, I don't want it to crack itself.. So any suggestions will be great.. And what is the 20 over evo??
Evo's last with pistons, cams and head work or 89" stroker kits. Both can deliiver 1 HP / cubic inch. They don't have enough meat in the cases to go big bore IMO.
(My 98 Ultra with Weisco 10:1, EV 3030 cam and ported heads was running fine when I sold it at 65,000 miles.)
That's .020" bored out of the cylinders, very little increase in displacement, no gain in performance .
That tells me it's been hurt or wore out and at least a top end rebuild was done.
You can send your engine to Harley to get remanned for 2700, but it will be bone stock,
Spoke to Axtell who is a leader in Evo big bore kits, Axtell said that the later yeared Evo cases can hold a large spigot bore but personally think it would be rolling the dice. Still have to strip the engine down for a spigot bore so I'm with stiggy on installing a 4 5/8 stroker kit for 89" A couple of GOOD engine builders on here have had good luck with the Axtell's and spigots bored for a 98" so it is possible for a large spigot Evo to live but you already have a cracked case large spigot Evo so I would be gunshy
If you enjoy horsepower it would be better to buy the Ultima because a 80" at $2300 will still need $1500 on the low side throwed at it to run and still small cubes. A 113" or bigger Ultima is $3600 delivered and outrun 98% of bikes you come up against. If your not happy with 2% outrunning you on the street, Ultima specialist John Sachs will take care of the 2% and will be up to how many underwear changes you want to make with the throttle.
It still come down to your wallet thickness and spending the money wisely.
Im not looking to kill my wallet, I was trying to be conservative lol.. I did look up 89 stroker kits. but after crank, bearings, pistons and all the other misc parts im still looking close to $3000..
