This should keep you busy, nothing wrong with a cv carb

A lot of guys rip out the EFI and convert to a CV carb. That says a lot.

They are good up to about 100Hp! And are basically neck and neck with the Mikuni HSR 42 units until about 6000rpm and then drop off a little.

HA! That's a tall tale. The Mikuni will produce more power at any RPM, with better throttle response to boot, and just as good fuel mileage.

CV is a good carb, and they work just fine. (but it ain't no HSR42....)

You're hijacking this thread! No argument that the Mikuni is a fine carb, but the OP doesn't need one, he just needs to sort out his current carb. If he can't sort that out he won't be able to sort out a new Mikuni.

Until the OP replies to the comments to date, we are unable to progress this.

CV carb is a great carb... just needs a little modding and it will perform wonderfully

I call bullshit on your last claim. I've run them both on the same bike, and I'll give you throttle response and maybe power (haven't dynoed either setup), but no way in hell can the Mikuni match the fuel economy of the CV carb. When I had the CV carb I AVERAGED 50 MPG under nearly any conditions. The only way the Mikuni will see 50 MPG is downhill, with a tailwind. When I put the Mikuni on my fuel economy dropped from 50 down to 40-42 MPG. Even putting the "mileage kit" in the HSR42 only improved it to 45 MPG under ideal conditions.
