Hi everyone, New Harley owner here, bought me a 93 electra glide w/ 47k motor rebuilt runs great, however... I always noticed after riding for a bit when coming to stops the PSI guage would drop very low I checked the oil seemed fine this past Sunday after a great ride coming off the freeway at the stop light I noticed the PSI guage drop and "bounce" at 0 and the oil light started to flicker when the light turned green I went straigt to the nearest parking lot but noticed when I revved the engine the PSI guage would go back to normal, I let the bike sit for 15 min, checked the oil was good, started it up and rode home with no more issue. Guage still drops at stops but didn't hit 0 at all. Anyone with this issue, is it an issue? Do the guages always drop at stops? Thanks all.
There has been a lot of discussion here about oil pressure. Harley's pump volume, not high pressure. My gauge always bottoms out at idle. My light used to come on but I moved to heavier oil, 60w from 20-50w. No more light, always a little pressure. It's not an issue, just blip the throttle when the light comes on, or move to a heavier oil if it bothers you.

Sounds a bit like the person who hears a new rattle in their car,and just turns up the volume on the radio.
It's not the best advice I've ever heard, burying your head in the sand seldom works.
I, personally, would investigate that. It might have had a piece of trash go through it and gouge out the oil pump body. New oil pump or a rebuild may be in order.
Is your idle speed up around 1K? You said you are a new owner, have you changed the oil yourself- running 20W-50 and using a filter for EVOs..Might have twinkie filter on there. Clean out the screen by the lifters?...Is the valve train making a rattling noise at idle...
These motors don't put out much preasure at idle but the light should not come on either...
There's a screen on the top of the oil pump. It's under the top screw. Pull that out and see if there's anything in it. At 47k and being "rebuilt", might of had a lifter wheel come apart and pass alot of schrapnel thu the motor. Mine went at 49,925 miles. If that looks good, pull the dipstick and watch the oil being circulated at idle.It should move faster when you raise the engine RPM'S. If that looks good, remove the gauge and make sure the feed isn't partially blocked with gunk. If you have the idle set too low, that can cause the light to flicker. If I remember the light will light up, if the pressure is less then 7 psi. You gauge might nor be that sensitive or accurate. An old dealer once told me ,if oil is returning to the tank your fine.,,
Thanks, really appreciate the responses. I will have it looked at, I just bought it and it's my first Harley so im learning as I go. The idle is good around 1k, it is up for an oil change after the "break-in" from the rebuild, at least thats what the seller told me to do after 1000 miles and im just about there so I'll have it checked.
