Default carb upgrade

looking to boost performance on an 89 electra glide . have butterfly, considering CV or Mikuni, or the stage 1 kit. Looking for results of someone else who has done the upgrade.

The best performance upgrade is a combination of parts that work well together. Option one would be a CV carb, free flow air cleaner, and better flowing pipes. Two, add a cam like a EV-27 and hello!

The question is......... how deep are your pockets?

CV is the cheaper option and gives better gas mileage.....anything is better than a worn out butterfly!!!

Replacing the stock butterfly with a used CV and free-flowing air cleaner/exhaust was the very first mod I made to my '89 when I bought it several years ago. Big improvement. I now have a Wood-built CV, but a less expensive option that many here on the forum have used is a CV from Dale's Killer Carbs.

A CV is the way to go as they are a highley efficient tunable and modern carb., compared to the older butterfly types.
Check Ebay for used CVs.

I purchased the Mikuni HSR -42 on EBAY for 265.00 with the easy install kit. Just like the snappy throttle response that it delivers over the CV.
