Wobble help
Hey, my 1st post here! My 2005 Softail Standard FXST (stock, cherry, no mods, 20,000 + miles) started doing this wobble like crazy at 85 in a slight LH curve on I-26. It does it in a curve or straight at 75 mph and quits at 65 mph. I call it a gyration form hell. I'm guessing the bars oscillated back and forth a full 6" at 85 mph. Yeah, I'm glad I survived! Oh, I did put a new set of HD michelin commanders on it last Fall. No, I'll never ride it that fast again. I've been riding since 1973 and never experienced this as bad as this was. I talked to 3 service mgrs. and one actually wanted to ride it that fast to feel what it was doing. Nobody's wreckin my bike! They said check neck bearings, swingarm bearings, air pressure, spokes, etc. So far I haven't found the warning label for wobble anywhere, either. I have a sneakin hunch it's rear wheel alignment. Whatever I find to be the culprit, I'll let you know. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks for your post and thanks to the forum for all your help in advance.
