Neck bearings are loose more likely, but in my experience dressers also do that when the tour pack is overloaded

I had a guy with a dresser who came in complaining that cornering at 80mph on bumpy roads was a bit scary....I told him to slow down or buy a Dyna.....he bought a V-Rod.

My good mate of many years who has loads of bike(non harley) and auto experience was the main man. Without his knowledge I wouldnt have attempted it and it probably is a 2 man job. Funny thing...he hated Harleys.!
Unfortunately he passed away last year with the big C. I have pics of the job but it sure wasnt easy.
In fact....for anyone buying a used Harley the kneck bearing "play" is probably one of the most important things to examine before buying.Other than the motor of course. Have a great summer! Bungo.
Please do post the pics you have.
Funney thing is I went out yesterday and put 600 miles on the bike and I hit some good speeds passing and just hitting the throttle and couldn't get a wobble for nothing.
I defiantely think its time to do the maintenance on the kneck bearings and swing arm. I've changed the tranny out so I know how much work it is to get the swingarm out. How much down time did it take to do the front end?

I seem to remember (18 months ago)that it took the best part of a day and a lot of hours the following day. Will post pics. but not sure how on the evo forum.

I have access to a welder but not in my garage and I wouldn't want to take my bike apart anywhere but in my garage. I've often used a propane bottle for heat, the yellow bottle not the blue one.

Hiring one is worth the cost as it makes the job waaaaay easier. I'll take my bike apart anywhere if there are better facilities than in my workshop.....can't get too precious, its only a lump of metal after all....a very nice lump of metal but hey, let's be real about this

Here are pics. I think the easier part is getting the bearings out. Nothing prepared me/us for the amount of work getting in to replace them.
Tightening them up is ok if u find an easy way to do it without stripdown but on 60k + Id rather replace them. Bungo
