Default Trying Something Different

Starting to get geared up for a Sturgis trip and know a 6 hour trip from Sturgis to Cody Wyoming is also setup by the Twinkie group once we get there. Can't get enough of a Evo sound but been putting alot of thought into a stereo for the long distance road time.

Here is my plan: the price of a quality fairing with additional stereo costs is out of bounds, have studied costs of all directions. Purchased a used set of HD lower fairings, scored a quality Fosgate amp that will fit where the M&M ecm once lived, purchasing speaker pods for the lower fairings that will house some old school Kicker speakers, patch cable came with the amp that a Ipod will feed a signal to the amp, all together lower than the cost of a Ebay cheap detachable fairing.

Will need to put some thought into the color, white, black or white with lower black. Should be a clean setup and has detachable mounting hardware available for easy removal, I ride alot with the RK stripped down and playing that into the picture. Will post some pics and hope I don't start questioning myself or the voice in my head will win.

right there with ya. I went with Uniq Cycle Sounds speakers (a bargain, all things considered...he uses pioneer speakers, and simple and effective mini amp, and passing lamp housings for speaker housings. I got mine powdercoated flat black, and mounted high on the crash bars they're nearly invisible. Can hear em easily @ 55-60mph, and still perceptible @ 75-80

that being said, I've got a 2500mile trip to SC coming up in September, and Ive been looking long and hard at one of those helmet-mounted bluetooth setups. seems to be a bit better suited, especially if the weather goes south

post pictures! I do like the look of lowers, but havent pulled the trigger just yet

Those Schuberth c3 jobs are like $700. Yes folks, that's a helmet with earphones (?) and a microphone. it sounds llike an interesting setup but to be honest I never really minded the Droid playing tunes with my skull-candy ear buds.

I put a radio in my EG and added speakers in the lowers.
I used a quality radio and speakeers.
It sounds ok around town but I still use an Ipod and earbuds on the road.
YMMV.

Earbuds here for long hauls on interstate too, the bike stereo for everything else.

Besides the tunes you'll appreciate those lowers if it rains, and keeps the bugs and grime off most of the bike, and you get to hear that woods singing to ya a little better.

We heading up to visit kin in Dubuque,Ia. on the 27th, and start heading across to Sturgis around the 30th.

Appreciate the info guys, havn't never considered a radio on a bike but still some blood flowing from show truck days in my aging body, besides it will drown out that helicopter engine flutter from the Twinkies I'll be with for 7 days.

Going to have to experiament, early morning AC/DC or Bluegrass?

Woods singing, that is the sound of power! Can cause an erection lasting longer than 4 hours
