Lazy kickstand

Found some oem parts to compare from a 1993 to 1989 and this is what I found in there scematics, only differnce I can see is the last 2 digits of the jiffy stand part number 45 and 50 which I think is just an adjustment for the newer years. got the list from this site http://www.utahharley.com/OEMpartfin...-81588-H030123

Guys I've been having an on going issue for the past few years where the kickstand would drop as I'm riding, this year it has gotten really bad where it drops almost straight out. It seemed to gotten extreme since I had a shops change the fork oil a couple months back, in fact as soon as I left there shop I rounded a bend and the end of the kickstand hit the pavement. I went back and thinking perhaps the spring just finally bit the bullet bought another spring . Seems to be a lot lazier if the bike has been leaning on the kickstand for a week.

spring is attached to lug on frame that over time (read misuse) gets bent back
you can bend the tab back to its original position but it will eventually break off
solution is to make a bracket to bolt to kick stand mounts that spring can locate on (look at shovel kiskstand bracket for inspirsation)
did this on my bike, it works fine

had similar problem on my glide, insufficient pressure on spring
spring is attached to lug on frame that over time (read misuse) gets bent back
you can bend the tab back to its original position but it will eventually break off
solution is to make a bracket to bolt to kick stand mounts that spring can locate on (look at shovel kiskstand bracket for inspirsation)

Been real busy past few days but wanted to come back and report. I took the kickstand off completely and inspected all parts. I compared old spring to the new spring I had put on but didn't appear to be much difference. I decided to put the old spring back on with the rubber stop moved back some and wouldn't you know it the kickstand is still kinda lacking spring going down and the normal spring tension going up but it has been staying up without falling down while riding.
I ordered a entire setup from pinwell so I'll see if that makes an even better difference. Thanks Schex3x.
