It has only had about 1000 miles on a hole new ss super sport lower end so hopefully no damage has occurred ton the bearings. I will be sure to bring you concern to the mechanic for advisement. I am with spanners though in that ball bearings are pretty tough and hold up to vibration well but I am no expert. At this point I am taking thus all in and with the mechanics advice will put it all together and make decisions on all the information at hand. I will say all of you have raised great points and gave great information. Keep it coming it is greatly appreciated.
I have owned a bike shop since 1965 and still operate it today, its nice to hear you once owned an iron head and from that experence know what happens inside one, the Pronouncement was from experence not owner ship
Prehaps you could enlighten me, my shop used a metal dumpster in the past, from the offerings to the God of speed - you probly would not believe what i have seen roller bearings do and from what -- johnjzjz
pull yer head in, I've been fixing bikes for 35 years... And I still think you are taking rubbish.
Yep, hopefully it will be fine. Thanks for your information I will definitely bring all these points up to the mechanic, but I have to agree with spanners on the durability of the roller bearings. They are present on most of the machinery I work on that has vibration or bushings. But again I am no Harley expert that's why we come to the forums is to get the experience and knowledge of you guys and hopefully make informed decisions from them.
Well got the verdict. Motor is toast. Jugs are .015 over on thrust and .008 on side. Rod bearings have play, so bottom end has to come apart. Not the news I wanted. Round 2 rebuild I guess.
