Default rear wheel bearing # for an 85 flhtc

what rear wheel bearing is used instead of using bearings from an HD dealer? and are sealed bearings available for an 85?

No sealed bearings that I know of will fit. I don't have the number handy, but it is a common bearing and seal available anywhere. Just be sure to use Genuine HD Wheel Bearing Grease.

Not to hijack the thread but I thought you could put in sealed bearings but you would have to change spacers.

Is this not true?

H-D grease is BS...H-D don't make grease and it is illegal in the USA to specify a particular product to keep the warranty valid unless the MOCO provides the product free of charge...(somebody, somewhere got pinged in court on this one over engine oil) My Indy does not use H-D lubricants of any form.

Use proper wheel bearing grease and you'll be fine....don't use that hard water pump grease that some folks use because it was in the shed when Grandpa died.

The bearing number is stamped on the bearing (as is the seal size on the seal) you can get them from any bearing supplier and many auto stores.....if given the choice, buy a Japanese or German one...not Chinese...ever, not never at all, ever..

Ugh...I think it was a joke...and there probably won`t be much time left on the OP`s `85 FLHTC warranty anyway...

The bearings are all Timken for that year HD or aftermarket only difference is going to be price tag and do not try any of the aftermarket " sealed bearing " kits they are all china junk .

Just use Kendall "Super Blue" and you'll be fine. That's what the shop and I use.
