My 1990 Ultra Classic is giving me some strange stereo problems. Before I take the outer fairing off I thought I'd glean some knowledge from y'all.
The stereo works beautifully while the bike is not running, but as soon as I start the bike I loose all stereo controls - i.e. volume.....search.... etc. Sometimes when I hit my front brakes the stereo cuts out totally to where all I have is static and a blank face on the head-set, although it is still lit up.
I'm thinking maybe a loose ground to the stereo causing some of this, or a bared antennae to ground. Maybe some ignition / coil wiring has intercepted the sound system somehow? Perhaps the anti-dive system on the front brakes is messing with it in some fashion.....who knows??
I had the EXACT issue with my stereo and found a short SOMEWHERE with my front brake wiring, check to see if your front brakes light up when you hit your hand brake, there is a short in that wiring I am thinking.
