You say full bearing timken type. Is the Torrington bearing not a good replacement. I have seen the Torrington recommended. Do you have a part # for the timken?

well lets start over -- i have had that issue a few times about the noize when the throttle is unloaded while at a crusing speed and it has turned out to be a bad thing

i own a shop and do this every day i see what some never see - the bikes i had that did that had a bad crank pin also< conecting rod pin -- as well as the cam and rollers like yours

Now you could fix what is wrong now and drive it again and see if it still does it, but if it was in my shop WE would be taking it apart together just to make sure --

as far as the timkin is concerned the bearing needs to be a full set of needles in the case not a 1/2 set i hope you get what i am getting to ==

I was afraid of that. Would the crank/ pin make that noise more so after warm up. It doesn't make any noise at start up. Only after about 10 miles. Thanks for your insight. Might just be better off putting a new motor in at this rate.

go to your local bike shops -- Not the dealer they know nothing - and explain what is going on like i had asked - the guy who picks up on what i said is the right guy to fix it --

sorry about the bad news but seen it a few times

and yes when the oil is thick and not free flowing the noize is dampened its still their but its not as loud as when its hot --

you will find in the end its on one side if the crank pin is worn off the reason for the odd time of the noize and not all the time its 1/2 worn out but catching up quick

the harley re man motor is not as expensive as fixing yours, if they do it you get a millage warr, if you put it in you dont, i believe its like 2200 bucks for a complete EVO re man and yours as a core -- johnjzjz

yup as suspected crank is toast. caught in time, thanks Johnjzjz, saved me some extra expense. Now for the next question or maybe a new post. does anyone have a good source for a crank assembly or rebuild company?. Looking at a total rebuild now. need to get ready for March in Daytona.

what i would buy is a complete rod set - the ones we use are made in japan ( sides of rods have RPLS casted in them ) very good quality i have installed 100s & 100s of them we check them everytime and have to date never found one set not in spec - the pinion shaft i would replace with an Eastern machine Its USA made better than jims in my book - fit a new pinion bearing, new timkin Main bearing set, balance the unit with what ever pistons you are using and put it back together -- good luck with it - johnjzjz

If you're in that deep I would give serious consideration to the moco reman program. It will cost you as much (or more) to build it and you'll have no warranty. With the reman, you drop your scoot off at the dealer, and then you pick it up a few weeks later with basically a new motor and a warranty. Unless you want to build your own custom hotrod motor, moco's will be bone stock.

thought about that but im not sure how they would feel about getting a box of parts as it is disassembled in the garage. my local MoCo has listed about $2900 to do that program. kinda hard to swallow that in one chunk. I may turn it up a little, nothing to crazy though
