Success!
plugged in the Daytona Twin Tec ignition module and coil, mounted the carb, hooked up the choke... and... it runs!
Still need to get a throttle cable and mount the tank, etc, but it works.
Very relieved!
Going to have to use the dented tank until I can get my EFI tank modified. Not looking forward to that.
Rather than starting a new thread, thought I'd throw some updates in and sort it all out later if I decide to do a build thread.. Front end is about done, I decided to cut the axle down and drill a hole for the speedo drive. Actually used a smaller one from a narrow glide and mock's up pretty nicely. I'll give a full report after some miles, but I see no reason for it to have an issue. The 1" axle just needed a trim to 3/4" on the end..
I also did the rear swing arm.. Everyone who has done it seems to be doing so with a rear wheel in mind... Well, for a definitive answer, the rear swing arm will not work with the original belt and pulley.. Couple things to remember, the new SA will take a 1" axle. Since you need the axle, you will need a wheel and pulley. This also requires a belt. So, while there, may as well go 1-1/8".. I used the Motorcycle Metal kit, pretty easy to do, just labor intensive on the belt side.. A socked and 1/2" extension and ball joint press were all the extra tools I needed.. Here's a few of what I've done so far..
