Curious about this as well. I spilled a little gas on mine right around the gashole before the paint had cured... now I got just a bit of bubbling around that the recessed cap don't cover.

Not to dispute the vast wealth of knowledge here from my best chums but there sure is a lot of concern and past conversations on gas vapors getting under the paint and peeling it up. Don't blame me Im just the messenger. I feel secure that my painter is good and he did use the best products { House of color } and On his suggestion of a sealed gas cap I was willing to go the $35 for peace of mind. But I guess they don't make one that looks like a stock cap, so I will just hope its all good. Paint will probably out live me.
