That guy is stupid, not brave. Look at that road, one good gust of wind could take him out. I'll ride out in the weather and the cold but, if the road is frozen, no way.

Maybe he didn't have any other choice. He must have been pretty careful, slow and deliberate with his actions, or he would be down.

I generally still ride like in the fall that right up until the first really big snowfall. Cold riding has never really bothered me. But once they lay down all that salt spray on the roads I park it until the spring rains washes it all away. The salt spray they use these days really creeps into every nook and cranny and eats away at sheet metal.

My first two years back from Viet Nam all I had was my bike. I went back to college so rain or snow I was riding. No interstate in the snow, it took twice as long but much safer. I know what you mean about the salt, but in those days rust was cool. Now, no way.

I rode today tryin' my new bars out, and it was in the mid low 40's and sunny, bbrrrr!!

Screw what that guy in the pic is doin', and much respect to you yanks that ride in sub 40* weather!

A few years ago when I had my other bike it was my only transportation. I had to ride in to work early one morning (still dark), and it was in the low 20's. I was bundled up like the michelin man, just puttin' along. This kid comes flyin' by me on a sporty with nothing on but a white cotton t shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes! Nutz!

It's so cold here I can't even work on my bike in the garage. You're lucky, 40 would be a heat wave for us right now
