Default Primary Cover Gasket ?
Have to do stator replacement on 97 FLH.
Does the primary cover gasket require a sealant, like RTV, before installation?

Nope. Reused mine bout 5 times and did smear a little on last time. But new rite out of package nothing

Depends how brittle it gets, I only use them twice if its my bike and never on a customers bike...they are cheap enough.

If you are using the old style cork gasket I wouldn't reuse it.
If you are using the new metal/foam gasket You can use it several times.

In either case I wouldn't use RTV.

The primary gasket on my glide been reused about 5 times, like a free case of beer everytime it comes off intact.

Been reusing mine many times over, once it gets iffy looking coming off I replace it and I wouldn't recommend a rubber gasket.
