Bandit plans installation for a stock setup....why I have no idea....because 99% of the time if you're installing a Bandit its because nothing else will hold the torque you're putting down.

their hub is machined to do the same thing the S&S IPB does...IE it's 0.300" longer and designed to better support itself on the mainshaft by extending down past the splines.....kinda like the S&S IPB aside from being a better/tighter fit extends all the way to the splines...making it nearly impossible to walk/spin on the mainshaft.

its (once again in my case) just a matter of 2 parts that works VERY well, but cant work well together.

I was talking about the spacer you made to extend out your starter drive gear.

Which spacer are you talking about?

From your description it sounds like the bearing race but I'm not sure.

my buddy machined me a spacer to fit inside the starter/jackshaft coupler. i probably wont need it. PrimoRivera sells a spacer kit that does the same thing, except mine is 1 piece, and theirs is a stack of washers

my problem was the combination of a bandit clutch/clutch hub (which is 0.300" longer from the snap ring groove to the inner face of the clutch hub than the stock hub...thats what the pictures are) installed on top of an S&S IPB race...which is longer than the stock race by about the same distance (0.300")

0.300" from one or the other would have fit and functioned fine...but add the two together, and you get what happened to me.

I understand what the problem is what I don't get is if your off that far on the clutch hub. why did you only have to move the front sprocket .060 you think it would have been a lot more than that

unless you drove the race up against the output shaft???

thats the last thing I have to check. it doesn't appear to have moved (it takes a HELL of a lot of force to seat an IPB race on the mainshaft...and the clutch hub nut is torqued @ 60lb/ft.

either way, it's still snugly secured in the oil seal, and has the entire diameter against the inner primary bearing. plus, the S&S IPB race has a taper on one side thats ~ 0.045" SMALLER than the mainshaft diameter....so its nearly impossible to push it on farther than its supposed to go.

had a bit of a snafu today....went to pick up my hub/basket....only to find out it got dropped

luckily my indy sourced another one (on his dime), and had me out the door within the hour. the new one looks to be in better shape than my original one too (hadn't broken anything yet, but there was clear evidence of the clutch plates HAMMERING the basket...even got some grooves in the steel hub from Bandit.

looks like I'll be back on the road tomorrow
