I wonder if bike theft is as bad as it used to be. Back in the 1980s lots of bikes were stolen at Myrtle Beach bike week. It was always talked about and people used lots of thick chain trying to prevent it. Now you don't hear much about it. Last spring we camped at Ocean Lakes and had to leave our bikes up in a field near the highway. There were hundreds of bikes up there and as far as I know not a one was stolen. They did have security but, with so many bikes coming and going, being loaded on trailers, etc.., how would they know if one was being stolen? I'm sure that if someone were caught stealing a bike by it's owner there would be ugliness.
I don't presently own an Evo, although I did awhile back, so I will sneak in my .02. I lock it up, forks and ignition, then cover it with my PLAIN motorcycle cover. Drivebys and onlookers will probably think it is a Honda and leave it alone. If you also connect the bottom of the cover, each side together, underneath the bike, then any attempt to casually sneak a peek, will be thwarted.

In motels I sleep with a Kimber next to me, will I wake up with professional thiefs, maybe not and not going to stay up all night watching the bike. If my wife is with me and the bike loaded I know they won't pick the bike up, will hear their nuts hit the ground trying to pick it up and will wake up, hate to shoot someone in so much pain.
That's how just how I see it , full coverage on my bike , But like TJ said if they want it they will get it ,my Brothers son had his bike taken while on a road trip his bike was parked in the center of about 10 bikes , his front lack was broken so they blocked it in , but it was the only bike moved the next morning , so they wanted it & got it
I try to at least park close to the motel hotel window and use a big *** cable lock , front disc bullet lock and lock mine and my wifes heritage together. Oh ya and I cover both bikes with a cheap looking unmarked bike cover.
