i guess its been awhile, lol. i gave up on trying to figure it out after i done a bunch of reading up on the 95 and 96 efi systems and for a word, junk. what i didn't realize is how bad it had got, surprising what you can adapt to, until i gave the bike to my son last spring to try out and then i heard, lol. i had read about putting a 97 ecm on it and bought one but really didn't have the ***** to put it on as a guess, sorta thing. long story short, had a zippers marelli conversion kit put on with the thundermax ecm, goes on 95's to 98's. the shop called today and said it is on and running good for them on a 1/2 dozen test rides.
apparently this is fairly common on the 95-96 efi's and here's hoping. being that my passed wife bought it for me and it is numbered i will put it on the wall beside hers in the shop before i would put a carb on it. nothing against carbs, i would rather have one over efi, but it takes a lot out out the authenticity of it in my mind. it would of been down the road or carbed long ago when it started the b.s. if it wasn't what it is.

As long as you stay close to home and don’t ride it it will be fine....not original now anyway with zippers and thunder max ......lots have tried it all and will tell it works great. But on the other hand I have never seen one were the owner swapped to carb and was even a little disappointed and swap back to EFI. My personal 98 u can hardly tell it swapped unless you look close. But anybody that has a good ear for tuning can tell a Mile away. On the numbers matching.....nothing like muscle cars. Same with originality in these models...not rare. You are doing it for a your reason so only u have to live with the poor performance it will always have and the tons of cash that it takes to get it no better than when you started
