I'd like to gain a little more low-end torque out of my V&H true duels and oval slip-ons on my -06 Street Gllide. I been searching the use of torque cones and the use of "lollipops". Any opinionson which works best? Does one method work better, or doesn't it matter.
Larry
Larry, I have a 07 heritage and I just install the thunder monster baffles in my vance & hines big shots long.It made my pipesreal loud butonly when you really get on it. Itgave me lots morepower in the lower end to mid range. I can't believe the difference it made in my pipes well worth every penny I spent on them. They have the lollipops type baffle and believe me they worked on my set up.
Definitely lollipops. Torque cones go in the wrong end of the pipe to do any good.
I made lollipops out of 1" washers with the hole welded shut. They are welded on the end of a 1/4 bolt stem. I put them at the end of my headpipe just in front of the muffler flange.
Thanks guys,
I bought some 1" thumbscrews and put them in the TD headpipes right where ya' put yours (xxxfflhrci)....indexed 'em with a screw driver slot for adjusting the backpressure easily from now on. Read about that idea on the forums. <G> Don't know if the tune will change much, but the bike's got TVII, so
I'll see if it dials in the afr after riding a bit. The weather was pretty cold and rainy yesterday, so i only took it for a short spin. Seem to run fine and I did feel some more low end. There's better weather coming so Ill get some more time to evaluate it. I'll run a tankfull of gas and check the mpgs.
The design and function of the cones is to increase the exhaust velocity which helps evac the chamber and aids in "pulling in" the new charge of AF mixture. This perks up the bottom end power, they also help prevent reversion, letting exhaust back in during the valve over lap period. So if used for the right application, they work very well! Drag pipes,or oversize pipes benefit the most from them. They are at they end they need to be, for what they are designed to do.
I have Samson true dual fishtails on my bike will any of this help my performance? I love the look of these pipes but the really killed my performance.
