I've heard them, and they are very quiet. I have an 07 FXDWG and wanted to let the engine breathe better. So... what I did was found me a set of off road SE II's (from an 06) and put a set of Big City Thunder SE II Thunder baffles in them..
At idle sound is loud and very deep/throaty. Mid range and up the sound is no different than a regular baffled muffler.
There are 2 thingsI like about thunder baffles over the stock 06 SE II baffles.
1. They have a much deeper tone at idle (stock baffles had a blap balp sound).
2. I think my bike pulls nicely now through the eniter power band range. It seemed to me that with the stock baffles, my bike kind of lost torque in the upper end.
Now for the down side to my installation. The service guys at my local dealershipwere not happy that I installed parts that "the motor company" hasnt approved. After getting the leacture about "motor company" policy, I got the service manager to tell me what to look for as far as what to look for, to see if my bike is running too lean. No sputtering, backfiring. Also, with a hot engine, 40 miles per hour in 4th gear at steady cruising speed, not surging, same thing at 60 in 5th or 6th gear.
Tomorrow is my 1K service and I plan to have the stage 1 download (street legal only) because I cant talk the service mgr into thestage 1 off road.
The Dyno machine is broken at my dealership and although I'm happy with my bike, that test will determine if everything is good to go.
OK, so after all that, the jist of my tangent was to let you know that you may not be happy with the 07 SE slip ons.My set up was a fraction of the cost of the $300 plus for the new mufflers.
Save yer money! I had the SE Street Performance Touring Mufflers (64985-07) installed when I picked up my RK. They sound like crap. Sounds like I'm ridin a damn Volkswagen. As soon as I can I'm gonna put on a set of Rinehart or V&H slip-ons.
