Hey Willie, new to this forum, maybe you can answer a question for me. After owning a 2013 sportster 48 for a year and researching exhaust and air intake mods, I finally went with the DIY cheap mod. Drilled out stock muffler baffle with 1" hole bit, swapped to K&N air filter using my stock cover with out the airflow restrictor plastic thing. No back fire , no chirping, no lose of power, sounds good, runs better. Is there a down side to what I've done. Should I invest in a Fuel Injector computer like a Cobra FI2000. Your posts sound like you know your ****, any opinion is appreciated, thanks in advance.
Yes you should invest in a tuner. Your lean stock bike became even more lean when you started moving more into and out of it. There are much better tuners than the Fi2000 out there (PCV or better yet a flash tuner and proper dyno tune) but regardless get the A/F correct as soon as you can...

Rule is, y I u can change one or the other, intake or exhaust, once you change both, you need a fuel management system. Of course if you happy the way it's running, then maybe not, but a fuel management system may get you a couple more horses, or better milage you didn't know was possible otherwise. I have installed Vance and hones fuel pack s on two of mine. I prefer the older ones without the iPhone download crap, I've broken four iPhone in t h e last year and this is not data I want to lose of have problems with. So I print out my map and attach to ins. And registration and keep it with. They are easy to set and still avail on ebay for around 260.00. Some may suggest other options, this is just my preference. Especially since all my pipe s are Vance and hines..
