I have a 2007 Heritage and would like to convert over to true dual exhaust. What is the best aftermarket system for true duals and why? I have also been told that I would need to add a fuelpak or tuner when I change the exhaust over because the engine would run too lean. Any thoughts on what would be the best option?
Thanks for your input,
Altmada
Best is subjective, what are YOU looking to gain from a true dual system? Yes you will need some kind of tuning if you put a true dual exhaust system on your bike.
Be aware that with true duals you will loose some low end torque due to the loss of scavenging effect. Do a search on true duals, lots of complaints/info.

Yeah but the sound they make totally makes up for the loss of a couple torques!
I have an 06 with True duals by V&H. I also have the Arlen Ness Intake and am using a Dyno Jet Power commander III USB.
I love the sound and they do work well. I agree that the PCIII is needed when you do intake and exhaust. I would also do it for exhaust only since it does increase the flow and I expect lean it out.
Here is air intake side. Mine is the one in Back and the SPortster is my Wife's
This is left side. I am planning to relocate the coil. I do not like it over the exhaust.
I hope this helps. I do love the sound. I did wrap the baffles in fiber glass to get rid of sound hi pitch pop sound that bugged my ears. That is subjective though.

Not reviving a thread really as much as I just wanted to say ,I really dig the color scheme on your Heritage,....slick looking sled. Also, when you mentioned wrapping the baffles...did you use regular header wrap,or glass dedicated for baffles instead? Im not sure there is much differences, other than thickness..hence my inquiry, thanks Prof...be safe .

I used fiberglass matt for the exhaust baffle and I hate to say it, but the 06 was stolen and wrecked. I loved that bike and the paint work on it.
