Ok here is the deal, I have had it with loud pipes, yes loud pipes saves lives, but they also take the fun out of my riding. So as far as performance I have 103 inches, 10.5:1 compression, just a hair bigger than stock valves, SE 259e cams, with a SE air cleaner. Now the question is, can I use stock 2015 103 mufflers with out hurting the engine, and how bad will I need a new canned map? If I need a new map can I ride this configuration about 100 miles to the Harley dealership for a new map or will I need to rent a trailer? I am going to install the mufflers today, so I'll check back here in a little while to see what you have to say on the matter.
I don't think riding 100 miles with the stock mufflers will hurt since the bike won't be running leaner.
What I don't understand is how a canned map from the dealer will be the best for you. Somehow I doubt that there is a map that is configured with the build of your motor.
With the mods you have what you really need is a good tuner and/or dyno.
the stock system actually flows pretty good, hd put a lot of $$$$ & R&D into them.
depending on what was done, you may not have to remap since stock was tune for lower emissions. if you have feedback control, the ecu can adjust to a certain extent.
if it were mine, i would fly it and watch it.
you can always puts some high fish pipe so the noise is above you
I still have my old SERT from back in 08 and I had my bike mapped at the Harley dealership in Abilene after my engine build was finished. I guess I'm just asking if I'll need to get it remapped because of the stock 2015 103 CI mufflers.
With the mods you have what you really need is a good tuner and/or dyno.
Well you are correct I do need to have it dyno tuned, but I said I was going to have it done right after the build but it looks like I never got around to it, and the canned map has protected it all this time and I'm going to have it dyno tuned one of these days No Foolin.
Thanks guys I appreciate your time. It took me all day but I got if finished, and it sounds good, but I can still feel a small amount of the stock mufflers chocking it down just a little.
Well being that we cant edit our post any more, "after a good nights sleep," I'll just have to start a new one. So for anyone that wants to know The stock TC 103 mufflers worked very well for me My bike will now go just as fast as it ever did, but it just wont get there quite as quick as it did with the open flow exhaust.
