i have a 2004 Road King with Electronic Ing that i had HD install a set of HTCC Twin Cam CNC ported heads, a 211 cam, 95 Cubic Inch kit with a power commader and it puts out approx 103 HP and 99 ft/lbs tourque. This bike has been on the dyno four sepearate times in the past 1.5 yearsand each time the Air Fuel ratio has beentrimmed and it continously runs hot in in temperatures above 90 deg F. I also experience engine pinging during accel in the hot weather as well.
Is there anything that can be done eliminate the overheating and pinging condition or should i simply go with a larger bore to make up the power?
The Harley shop put you together a bad package.....the heads are way too big for a 95' build and the 211 cams are about the most undesirable cams made....sorry for being so blunt but it is the truth. It's very hard to tune a bad combination of parts correctly and this is why your having so much trouble. I'd richen the fuel in the area your having troubleand/orretard the timing.
I agree with Doc, we solve these problems by welding and cnc porting those heads. The combustion chambers also get welded and normal TC dome pistons get installed. Decking the cylinders and setting the quench will solve the pinging problem. These mods will get you close to 110 torque and hp, pull 30 to 50 degrees out of the oil, and rev 2 to 4 seconds quicker. Cam change will also be necessary.
Since i spent a few $ on the heads and would like to use them, do you have any direct experience with what would be a good combination of parts to use with these heads?

Sorry if I offended you about your heads....didn't mean to nor was it my intension to. I just get so angry that Dealers pushing things they have no knowledge on. The port velocity is so bad in those heads with a 95' or 103' that the cylinder doesn't fill up with air, no air, no power, bottom line .The HTTC CNC heads might work on a 117' and up motor.....in my opinion it would be cheaper to take your stock castings and having some one like Dan Baisley porting them for you build.Your throttle response will be better and the tq will be more plus higher hp numbers.
Direct experience is what we have, we do several of these every week. We have heads and cylinders already done sitting on the shelf and can core charge yours out so that you will not have any down time. If you perfer to have yours back- 3 weeks.
While they might be able to fix those up soe you can use them, I bet they could much easier fix up your stock heads and yield better results. You can always sell those....
I know this is not what ya wanted to hear, but it's reality.... [&:]
