Hey guys, new here! Ride a 2015 RGS with a stock 103. I know this topic has been beat to death, but so has my brain from researching and I’m still undecided. Going to install heavy breather, PowerVision tune from fuelmoto, and exhaust. I’ve narrowed it down to two a V&H Pro Pipe (which I’ve heard in person and like) or the D&D Fat Cat w/ Perforared Wrapped (medium baffle) that everyone is swearing by now. I just haven’t found anyone near me running a D&D yet. I’m leaning towards the D&D bc the looks, sound, and performance, but worried about it being so Loud that I will have to upgrade my radio. Btw im 25 and loud to me is loud loud. How does the loudness of the Pro Pipe compared to the D&D bc that sounds perfect to me. Thanks!
Volume wise the pipes are very similar. I would go with the D&D for the quality factor. IMO, D&d is at the top of the heap and V&H is at the bottom; if you could hold both pipes and give them a look over the difference in build quality, chrome/ceramic, thickness on the heat shields, welds would jump out at you...
Iv had both and liked both. Personally I think the pro pipe sounds better at idle to wot. D&D is a lot louder and gets annoying after a few hours of riding. With that said, the fat cat is a better built exhaust, the chrome is better and performance is much better with D&D.
I’d like to try a pro pipe muffler with the D&D head pipe to see what that would sound and perform like
I were a full face helmet and with the pro pipe I had no problem hearing the stock speakers, not so much with the D&D. It was a good excuse to add a amp and better speakers.
I had a Fatcat on my 07 night train and when I bought my 13 SG it already had a V&H High output 2-1 on it. I loved my D&D (performance and sound), so much that I will be taking off the V&H this winter and going back to a D&D.
I agree that the D&D may be better quality and better performance, but also twice the price of a pro pipe. Choose what is important to you. I have heard both and don’t care for the D&D. It makes good power but so do many others.
