Default Big City Thunder Baffles?

I have a friend of mine with a '02 Fatboy. He has V&H short shots, and was thinking about changing the baffles to the "Big City Thunder" Baffles, Thunder Monster version.

He is looking for better sound.

Anybody use these, or have you heard them before?

Any input appcreciated...

Thanks in advance,
Mitch

I have a 99 fat boy with v&h big shot longs. When I changed from the samson rip saws, I thought I'd notice a difference. I didn't. Then I saw the postings for the thunder monsters. So what the heck I tried them. I did notice a significant differnece. When I gently accerlate to a fdew mph then crank back on the throttle, wow, there is a big seat of the pants difference in accleration that i did not have with the baffles in the big shots. There is no differnce unless you really crank it back, but it is a significant improvement. But they make the pipes loud. A lot louder than with the baffles. But caution, my HD stealer would not pass the bike for inspection since there were no baffles in the pipes. But the local quick oil change place did.

I have an 04 FXDWGI with Vance and Hines straight shots and I was very disappointed in the sound after purchase. I saw an add for the Thunder Monsters, as everyone told me I needed some sort of baffle with the fuel injection, and I couldn't be happier. The difference in pickup wasn't huge, but the sound improvement was worth more than I can say. I've had several people, including those with straight pipes etc., come up and say they love the sound of my bike. The nice thing is that you can take it easy and they aren't too loud, but you can get on it and you'll get noticed.

When I ordered my Thunder-monsters I was lucky enough to talk to one of the owners and he spent quite awhile on the phone with me giving suggestions and talking bikes. He was even kind enough to send me a free t-shirt so I would tell all my friends where the great sound was coming from. I wouldn't hesitate to by Thunder Monsters, it was the best (and probably cheapest) thing I've gotten for my bike.

I sort of got lost on your post, let me get this straight, you now have the Thunder Monster's in your V&H big shot long's and you are satisfied right? [sm=smiley20.gif] The reason I'm asking is I'm thinking of getting the Python pipe's just like the Big Shot Staggerd's only cheaper, and put the thunder monster's in.

Whats up guys. Tested above for I could'nt figure out how to post. Anyways I got a little lost in that post as well. KB Wideglide I too think your saying you like em. Are these thunder monsters close to as loud as open pipes?

Jstartz I thought the thunder monsters were baffles altough not stock. Is that why your saying the HD dealer would'nt pass inspection?
Whats your take on how loud to open pipes. I like e'm real loud.

I've done some research on another site (Indian) about these and haven't found much info. Just a couple of posts. Both liked and one guy said he loved them. Said that if your running open pipes and go with these it would feel like you just stroked your motor.

What do these things look like internally? From the picture all I can tell is they appear to be of a somewhat venturi shape, as in pipe diameter - to smaller diameter - back to pipe diameter. Is that all, or are there any kinda baffles inside?

Wondering because being the cheapo kinda geezer I am, I have a couple copper pipe reducers I was going to put in my drags just ahead of my lollipops. The reducers will reduce the inside pipe diameter from 2-1/4 inch to about 1-7/8 inch. They should act similar to these baffles y'all are talking about. If the Thunder Baffles have no internal baffles I'll experiment with my removing my lollipops, and see which way "feels" like I'm getting more torque.

Tnheritage, yes I am satisfied with the thunder monsters. Basically, the thunder monsters are a bolt with a washer that's put into a tube that is installed by removing the baffles and using the existing baffle holes. The link below describes the basic technique used is simialr to what people do with drag pipes to make them perform better. But they are loud!!! With the thunder monsters, you get more sound and a seat in the pants feel of quicker accleration. And as someone said above, if you call them, the owners will take all the time you need to explain their product. Hope this helps.
