Default Engine temp

95 Degree day, cruising around 70 to 75 MPH, 3000 RPMs. Temp was at 239 Dyna Superglide Custom, has factory oil cooler. Is this about right for engine temp?????

If it's a stone-stock '06 or '07 with O2 sensors that might be normal, but I wouldn't be happy with that temp and would consider it too high. My '07 SG (PCIII with O2-sensor eliminators) runs about 205° in those conditions and I also have an oil cooler. If you're still running the O2 sensors, you might consider some means of controlling the A/F, like a PCiII, SERT, or T'Max. You could also install another oil cooler in series with your HD cooler, like a Jagg mounted on the left downtube, for added cooling.

A '99 Night Train is an Evo, and you can't compare Evo oil temps with TC's, as TC's run much higher. My Evo RK rarely ran >180°, maxing out at 200° once or twice in the nine years I rode it. Part of the reason TC's run higher oil temps is the piston spray function that cools the engine more effectively. It makes the oil hotter but the engine runs cooler because the oil is absorbing the heat.
