Yes the sensor is in the front head, normal operating temp is between 200 to 235 but it will get up to 260 in heavy stop and go traffic,280 would be considered high temps.
The ECM uses head temp not oil tem so I would say head temp is more useful.
I regularly hit 270-285 in high traffic(everyday). I wasn't running so hot before cam change, se255 to woods tw6-6.
