Street Cannon mufflers modified M8 Touring
I don't believe it is possible to remove the baffles without cutting the back end off, however, I went with a different approach. I removed the tune-able insert and cut the end plate out, then removed about half of the fiberglass packing. The result is a definite improvement in sound. They are significantly louder - very close to the Cobra Neighbor Haters, and I must say, a bit deeper too. Did not really notice any loss in low end torque.
So, if you're looking for a less expensive alternative to mufflers and are willing to do some cutting and welding, this could be an option for you. Unfortunately my welds look pretty bad, I ran out of argon, so I had to use my MIG with the flux-core wire. Not pretty but it did the trick.
My next step will be to re-install the tunable inserts to see if it makes a difference in tone.
In case anyone is interested, I cut around the inside edge where you see the crappy welds. The baffle is tacked to the backing plate on the inside. Once you remove the backing plate you can fish out as much packing material as you like. Then weld the backing plate back into place where you cut it.
