Hello people.I recently added a set of Big Shots staggered to my 114 fat bob.6 spins later and the flange nuts continue to looses.Ive been tightening them to 10Nm but they keep loosening.I've heard that this happens for a few hear cycles but I've a feeling this isn't what's going on here with me.Either the tightening torque is lower than recommended or something else.
Any ideas?
Looking at the big shots I would assume after lightly doing up the bolts you do up the flange bolts to pull in the headers and then do the fixing fasteners at the bottom of the pipes?
I can only guess the headers aren't making a sound connection in the ports so they can vibrate. The only suggestion is to undo all the fasteners so the pipes are loose and do up the flange bolts first.

I think the instructions called for theflange nuts to be tightened first and the mounting points to the rear bracket 2nd but I'd have to check to be sure.
So long as both pipes are free to move it shouldn't matter. When it comes to the nuts themselves I have always done them a bit at a time to pull the clamp ring in square.

as I do also.I meant for the 'final' tightening does it matter.Id guess not.
Also the mounting bolts need to be 'started' before you tighten the flange nuts down.Otherwise it's nearly impossible to get them near the nuts to get them started.
This all suggests they are not a particularly good fit and metal is being sprung but probably why the instructions get you to install all of the fasteners before going round and tightening them up.
The flange nuts will be at final torque before you do up the pipe mounting bolts/screws to the brackets.

When you say 'do up' do you mean at final torque or before you even start the mounting bolts?
