Default Moding Stock Pipes

I am holding off on any real mods till I sell my Suzuki. That said, is there a way to get a little more sound from the stock exhaust? I spent all this money on a Harley, but it doesn't really feel like a Harley yet with no sound coming out [X(].

Thanks.

Nothin huh? Well, they seem to be getting a little noisier as the engine breaks in... but it still only sounds like a rather polite, quite harley, while at idle.

You can drive a rod in them. You can use a hole saw to cut the baffle out. You can send them to one of those shysters that modifies stock mufflers and sells them on eBay. In the end, all of the choices will sound like crap and you will end up coughing up the bucks for an aftermarket set.

Yeah, removing baffles on the stock only makes you lose performance. Not to mention you may not be able to hear them, but others can. When I ride with others who have stock exhaust, and they leave first, I can hear their exhaust clear as day.

As was already suggested, drive a 1" rod through the mufflers. I did mine decades ago and I think they sound just right. Not too loud, but loud enough. Just take the muffler off, put it on a board, get a large rod with a somewhat pointy end, pound it through the center of the muffler. I can see all the way through my muffler, but it still isn't really that loud. I have no problem hearing the radio and I don't have to wear ear plugs. But it is loud enough and sounds good.

I think I am going to make a 2 into 1 exhaust this winter from 304 stainless. My crossover pipe bit the big one on me. I'd just like to keep the same sound level that I have now.
