Default Long Term Project

Another post got me thinking about the eventual rebuild I'll have to do one of these days.

Being a tad different than most, I want to keepmy Evo at 80 inches. For my type of riding, I think I'll look at a cam that increase torque in the low-midrange, adjustable pushrods, roller rockers, have the heads ported/polished/cc'd, single fire ignition (ain't sure if the SE module on the bike is, but I'll check it out when I can get to it), and probaly get a tweaked CV carb to replace the butterfly Keihin. Might not sound like much, but I think if I mix 'n' match the parts carefully, I might end up with something pretty surprising.

Which means I'm looking for some suggestions!

Skip,

you might want to think about the following:

Have ******' Racing C-N-C port your heads. Costs 500 bucks, and they bench flow them so you KNOW they flow the same all the way across. They also install bronze valve guides and some really good valve stem seals. If you wanted, you could have them put in stronger springs if you want a huge cam.....

Is the CV better than the Keihin? I have always heard good stuff about the reliability of the stock carb.

Anyhow go to their site and check it out! Seems like a good way to go if you don't want to spend alot of money, but still get an increase in power, and possibly better MPG.

CV is more forgiving of any atmospheric changes from altitudecompared to a butterfly carb. The CV stands for constant velocity and that generally makes for a better all around carb. The stock CV can be easily modified for a stronger motor pretty cheaply. I can get a refurbished and tweaked CV off eBay for about $100, and sometimes less. It'll do what I want as well as a Mikuni, and better than an S&S, and for way less bucks.

I'll look into the heads; thanks.
